All about Silk

Silk has long held the connotation of luxury. Throughout the ages silk has been associated with the rich and royalty. In China silk was revered as such a valuable commodity that it was used as a form of currency.

It is made from the cocoons of silkworms which are unraveled to become one long continuous thread. These threads are then woven together to produce the beautiful fabric we now as silk.

Silk has a long history in reaching various parts of the world but its origins begin in China, invented by a Chinese empress. Due to its high demand, silk became a major trading commodity and eventually became known as the Silk Road.

Silk has always been associated with luxury and wealth. Once available only to the very rich or royalty today silk is more widely available and still retains the same sophistication and extravagance of its origins
